Wendy Tuohy has been exposed to a real world of life in the raw as a journalist all her working life. She has interviewed the unsung heroes and heroines and witnessed the justices and injustices of winners and losers in 20 years at The Age and five at Herald Sun – with a break for babies in between.
Her columns and Herald Sun/News.com opinion pieces cover subjects including parenting (the good, bad and the nutty), work-life balance, women’s status in the workforce and public life, portrayal and representations of women and girls in media and some lady pop-cultural themes.
Her entertaining pieces are also infused with a quirky sense of humour!
Wendy has worked in a wide variety of writing and editing roles at The Age, The Sunday Age and Sunday Life magazine. She was also a feature writer for the Saturday Insight Section.
She is an Ambassador for the Cancer Council’s ‘Girls Night In’ and Champion for the Breast Cancer Council Network, Australia’s Field of Women event.
During a few years full-time at home with three young children, Wendy worked as a freelancer which included doing regular stints on ABC 774 radio in Melbourne.
She presented the Saturday morning lifestyle show on 774 for several months in early 2008 and regularly co-hosted other 774 programs.
She has appeared on Channel SEVEN’s ‘Sunrise’ program, on Channel NINE’s ‘Weekend Today’ and ‘A Current Affair’ discussing issues in the news.
She is a regular guest on ABC News Breakfast, Channel NINE’s Mornings show and Hinch Live on Sky News.
Wendy joined the Herald Sun in 2008 as maternity-leave arts editor, before becoming a feature writer and columnist. She has a passion for writing about motherhood and women’s issues which touch the lives of the widest possible demographic of contemporary Australian women.
Her lively and entertaining style of delivery is sure to guarantee a full house at your next event.
