Nikki Nicholls is an Australian singer-songwriter, touring artist, and storyteller whose career spans decades of live performance, recording, and collaboration at the highest level of the music industry. With a voice shaped by rock, soul, and heartfelt songwriting, Nikki brings depth, warmth, and lived experience to every stage she steps onto.
Nikki was the original backing vocalist for the John Farnham Band and recorded on the landmark Whispering Jack album — one of the most iconic releases in Australian music history. During the height of Melbourne’s recording era, she was also a highly sought-after session singer, working across albums, commercials, and major live productions.
Her career has taken her across Australia, New Zealand, and the world, touring with artists such as Australian Crawl, Suzi Quatro, Richard Clapton, and Kylie Minogue, and supporting Stevie Wonder throughout Australia as part of the John Farnham Band. These experiences forged Nikki’s reputation as a consummate professional and a performer trusted on the biggest stages.
Alongside her extensive touring career, Nikki has released four studio albums, each reflecting a different chapter of her musical journey.
- Misunderstood — A bold collection of classic rock interpretations featuring songs by Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Deep Purple, and The Rolling Stones.
- Yume Ippai — A unique and deeply personal project written and recorded entirely in Japanese, inspired by iconic Australian landscapes such as Uluru, Kakadu, and the Great Ocean Road.
- Bridesmaid — An original album produced by Nikki and Doug Brady, receiving critical acclaim and earning a finalist place in the International Songwriting Competition for the title track. The album includes That’s No Way to Love Someone, co-written with John Farnham, and has been performed extensively at venues and festivals across Victoria to enthusiastic audiences.
- Flower Girl — Nikki’s most recent album, released in December 2025, marking a powerful and reflective new chapter in her songwriting.
Both Bridesmaid and Flower Girl have been released globally through Universal, bringing Nikki’s original work to an international audience.
